# Pathalogical Demand Avoidance (PDA)
“It’s an extreme anxiety-driven need for an individual to have control over their life.” [^1]
It is clinically linked to autism spectrum disorder (ASD). [^2]
Examples of demands: [^1]
1. Simple requests for information or cooperation, such as "Are you planning to shower today?" or "Can you hand me that pen?"
2. Following routines set up by others or being asked to change their routine in some way.
3. Social expectations, such as engaging in small talk, participating in group activities, or keeping in touch with people they consider friends.
4. Academic or work-related tasks, such as completing assignments, following instructions, or meeting deadlines.
5. Personal care activities, such as bathing, grooming, or getting dressed.
